The Library is inviting applications for the following positions:
Assistant Officer (Learning Space) (Job ID: 10705)
The appointees will provide general support to the Library’s Access Services Unit.
Job Duties
- Perform counter duties at service desks.
- Provide support to facilities, equipment, and study areas during floor duty.
- Monitor facilities & equipment, report & follow up defects and collect usage data.
- Conduct routine physical collection maintenance.
- Provide clerical and logistics support for library activities, projects, and events.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 passes in the HKCEE, including English (Grade C minimum if Syllabus A or level 2 if results were obtained from 2007 onwards) and Chinese; or 5 subjects with English Language and Chinese Language achieving level 2 or above (or equivalent) in the HKDSE.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and Chinese processing.
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
- Service-oriented mindset and strong team player.
- Excellent typing, data entry, and analytical skills.
- Experience working in an academic library environment is a plus.
- Willingness to undertake shift duties.
(Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.

Officer (Serials) (Job ID: 10714)
Working in the designated team of the Library’s Resource Management, the appointee will be
responsible for performing resource procurement, electronic resource management, and metadata
management of print and electronic resources. Major duties of the appointee including checking
duplicates, sourcing, acquiring quotation, ordering, payment processing, receiving/activating
resources and generating claims, electronic resources routine maintenance; providing support to
Collection Development Committee for renewal/cancellation. S/He is also expected to perform
creation of original metadata records, copy/enrichment of metadata records in accordance with the
local and international practices and standards; perform withdrawals and metadata maintenance as
instructed. S /He is also require performing counter duties and carry out any other duties as assigned.
Applicants should have at least 5 passes including English (min. Grade C if Syllabus A or level 2 if results were obtained from 2007 onwards) and Chinese in the HKCEE; or 5 subjects, including English Language and Chinese Language, attaining level 2 or above (or equivalent) in the HKDSE, plus at least 5 years of post-qualification relevant working experiences, preferably in a university library setting. The ideal candidate should have working knowledge of MS Office applications and Chinese word processing, and strong analytical skills. They should also be proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese, self-motivated, attentive to details, and able to work independently and in a team. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
